Jacob & Co Astronomia Tourbillon Art Skulls
Astronomia Tourbillon Art Skulls represents the fusion and craftsmanship of the brand revolving around a cult for the transience of life... death. Memento mori has been developed from extraordinary craftsmanship thanks to a crypt-shaped dial of skulls and bones sculpted in 45 grams of 18-karat rose gold. The work has taken at least 200 hours – six months for the goldsmiths, who feature skulls with tiny rubies for eyes.
Additionally, it features the iconic 1-carat Jacob cut diamond with 288 hand-cut facets to ensure roundness and symmetry. In addition, a magnesium globe –lacquered in blue– with continents in rose gold is placed on another of the arms, and the remaining one holds a bi-axial tourbillon that rotates in 60 second and 5 minute revolutions. The four satellites must weigh the same: the hour and minute satellite, the tourbillon, the magnesium globe and the Jacob Cut diamond.
Such beauty must be displayed to the maximum, and that is why the Astronomia line uses a very elegant 18-carat pink gold case, which leaves 6 sapphire crystal faces with domed treatments. The detail of the brand is taken to the maximum thanks to a setting of 80 baguette-cut diamonds on the horns. The time indication dial sports a skeletonization job.
